I visited Palo Duro Canyon today ... I was close to what I needed for Roswell ... but close just wasn't enough ... it will have to wait for Hobbs.
I am in Lubbock, TX tonight ... an unplanned stop but ... I'll get to that in a few paragraphs.
I have always been fascinated by the concept of parallel universes ... or multiverses .. if you will. It is latest 'big thing' in physics ... and thus the scientific interest in the Large Hadron Collider ...
Brian Greene has an excellent book out on this topic, 'The Hidden Reality' and there is an an excellent NPR overview here ...
The fascinating part to me is that the theory of quantum mechanics and the theory of relativity are rigorous when applied to the atomic level and the cosmos level respectively .... but they do not consistent when applied to what I will call 'our current understanding of our immediate environs ... Milky Way'. The only way out of this inconsistency is to have more than one universe.
Here's the part I find fascinating ... and this is being very, very simplistic ... our solar system has one sun and a number of planets (some with moons) orbiting that sun ... the planets, moons and suns are made up of molecules .. that have atoms that are electrons associated with a nucleus of protons/neutrons ... basically infinitesimal planet/moon/sun like systems ... the number of these molecules is so large we can't even grasp it yet alone store it or write it ... the same as the number of stars/planets/ moons/systems/galaxies, etc. ....
Let me now suggest something ... what if that micro world and what if that macro world were indeed .... the same. What if using the Hubble Telescope was the same as using an electron microscope ... what if we were actually looking at the same thing ... that could be an explanation for why the two theories break down in the middle ... they represent two different ways of looking at the same thing ...
Now let me suggest something else ... and I don't know who suggested this first .. whether it was a serious scientist .. or a serious science fiction writer ... or like Isaac Asimov, both the same ... what if every time you made a decision ... a decision that affected another person ... your universe split ... for example, you terminate a relationship ... you now have two universes, the one you are consciously in ... but another has been created where that relationship continues ... you can see that over a lifetime, the number of universe splits would be a number large enough that could not be written or stored ...
Now let's say that this universe .... the 'large' one .... is the one we are conscious of ... but the 'quantum mechanic' universe is the one consisting of our splits ... it might mean the following ...
a) the quantum universe is different for each one of us because our 'splits' are different,
b) because of the interaction between 'splits' in the quantum universe, there will be times when 'splits' match for several people worldwide,
c) when these 'splits' synchronize between enough people at the quantum level might they not spill over into this universe as a 'eureka' moment for one of us ... Archimedes and displacement/fulcrum; Newton and the apple, Einstein and the speed of light, etc. ...
d) and might the 'splits' also spill over as a 'eureka' moment for one of us as 'incomprehensible' but yet confirming an internal belief or feeling ... and this of course would resonate with others having the same 'splits' ... for instance, the 3 children at Fatima, the Marian apparitions at Lourdes, the 'resurrection' of Lazarus ... the 3 children is a fascinating one as they would be sharing the same 'splits' together, both in this universe and the quantum one ...
If enough of us 'split' with friends, relatives, acquaintances, etc. ... over 'internal beliefs' .. beliefs based on a 'strong hunch' ... beliefs based on the sheer fact 'that you know' ... and if there are enough of these 'splits' will it come back from the quantum world as something seemingly so strong and tangible ... that for one of us it reinforces or confirms that belief ... and the documenting of it and the reporting of it does the same for all the other 'splits' when they read it ... just possibly ...

... science is a way of thinking ... much more than it is a body of knowledge ...
The harbingers were not out there today ... a sign that all is very well or that all is not as it should be .. I fear the latter ... just as I was approaching Lubbock, I received a text message ... from 'Phil S' ... the only thing in the message was an address in Lubbock ... 20 miles south of Lubbock, I turned around ... I am going to Roswell ... we are going to see this through to the end ... or the beginning ...
